What a day! A Flag Raising to begin our day, resources, and a FCAT Pep Rally to end it! We were FOR SURE the most excited and spirited grade level. We broke out the pom-poms, did some cheers, and watched the Fletcher High School step team perform. Everything is ready for test week: the students are pumped up, the classroom is decorated for our "celebration" of "showing what we know", and there are even a few special surprises awaiting the students on their desks!

Fun with Perimeter!
We have been working so hard on measurement and perimeter! Yesterday, we learned a song to help us remember how to find a shape's perimeter. Today we practiced this skill using Cheez-It crackers to find the perimeters of 10 polygons.
We have been talking about how sometimes it is easiest to use counting on to find the perimeter (especially if the shape is an unusual polygon), but most of the time, it is most efficient to add the lengths of the sides using doubles or other easy combinations (such as make 5 or 10) to combine the lengths of the sides.
